Andries Nieuwoudt is a senior leadership excellence consultant who has been part of the Schuitema consulting team since 2016. His approach to leadership coaching is typically practical and hands-on, having been honed through years of experience in managerial roles. Like all Schuitema consultants, Andries is steeped in Care & Growth and makes use of a rich library of stories and examples that help leaders grasp what it means to practically apply.
Andries is consistent in his view that leadership is about being principled. His consistent guidance to leaders to stay consistent with the principles of Care & Growth, particularly when it would be more convenient to become expedient. Profound leadership means remaining unconditional in making the contribution required.
Andries has an immensely strong technical HR understanding. He is a very strong leadership and personal excellence coach. He is also particularly good at providing technical consulting guidance on HR policies, organisational design, recruitment, performance contracts and appraisals, salary models, employee relations and disciplinary matters. He has also advised on and provided disciplinary codes, advised on building relationships with unions, and handling of individual and group disputes, internally as well as at the CCMA. In support of this strong technical expertise, Andries is a competent facilitator.
Andries’s experience includes working as HR Manager and Executive in the refinery and smelting industry for more than 20 years before joining Schuitema. Andries was HR Manager at Anglo Platinum’s Rustenburg Base Metal Refinery for 10 years before he moved to Anglo Platinum Head Office as Programme Manager to manage a group wide restructuring, working with Bain Consulting to implement new Blue Print Structures at all Anglo Platinum Operations. Thereafter he joined Samancor Chrome as HR Head for their Tubatse Chrome Smelter in Steelpoort for 10 years.
