The original research conducted by Etsko Schuitema, in the 1980s, demonstrated that effective leadership is essentially tied up with the issue of employee trust in management.
When investigating the conditions of employee trust, Schuitema discovered the two criteria that need to be met in order for employees to trust leadership. These two criteria are Care & Growth. Employees grant their loyalty, trust, and commitment to leaders who Care sincerely for them and give them an opportunity to Grow. This is the Care & Growth leadership model.
